At The Woods, we provide a foundation that cultivates a lifelong love of learning grounded in peace, respect, independence, and excellence.
“The first duty of an education is to stir up life, but leave it free to develop”
– Maria Montessori
“To aid life, leaving it free, however, that is the basic task of the educator.”
– Maria Montessori
“The greatest development is achieved during the first years of life, and therefore it is then that the greatest care should be taken.”
– Maria Montessori, The Absorbent Mind
Being part of a global Montessori community is something truly powerful 💫
This weekend, our teachers and admin team had the opportunity to learn, connect, and grow together at #TheMontessoriEvent ✨
In Montessori, professional development goes beyond techniques — it’s about staying curious, open-minded, and committed to understanding each child more deeply. It’s about collaboration, shared insights, and the inspiration that comes from being surrounded by passionate educators.
We had an incredible weekend and can’t wait to bring fresh ideas, inspiration, and a renewed sense of purpose back into our school community! 🌿💚

A special visit from one of our parents! 🦷✨
Our students loved learning all about the importance of dental hygiene during a fun and interactive presentation. From brushing techniques to hands-on practice with stuffed animals, it was both educational and exciting!
A big thank you to @pediatricdentistryoffxbg for sharing your time and expertise with us! 😁
A little luck and a lot of fun! ☘️✨ Here are a few snapshots from our St. Patrick’s Day celebration yesterday 🇮🇪💚
Repetition is how children master skills and build confidence. Each time they repeat a task, they refine their movements, deepen their understanding, and experience the satisfaction of improvement.
In Montessori, children are free to repeat their work until they feel confident. This process naturally develops concentration, persistence, and self-discipline.
Sometimes the greatest growth happens when we give children the time and freedom to practice, explore, and truly master a skill. 🔁✨
In Montessori, movement and learning go hand in hand. 🤝🏼☺️
Our new Mindful Movement with Ms. Markia enrichment helps students channel their energy through intentional movement while building focus, balance, and body awareness. A joyful way to support both healthy bodies and growing minds! ✨
One of the most beautiful aspects of a Montessori classroom is the mixed-age community, thoughtfully designed with a three-year age span 🤗
Older children naturally step into leadership roles, modeling lessons, demonstrating responsibility, and gaining confidence as they help others. Younger children are inspired by what they see. They observe more advanced work, build motivation, and develop patience as they grow into their next stage of learning.
In a mixed-age classroom, cooperation replaces competition. Learning isn’t a race — it’s a journey best taken in community 💚✨
Today we celebrated Holi, the Festival of Colors! 🌈
Our students created a special classroom art project using colorful powder, an activity that represents the joy, friendship, and unity within our community. 🎨✨
Holi celebrates the arrival of spring and symbolizes renewal, happiness, and new beginnings. It was a wonderful reminder of the beauty of coming together and celebrating with one another 💚
We want to give a special shoutout to our Kindergarten class for a wonderful field trip last week!
They traveled to the Riverside Center for the Performing Arts in Fredericksburg, where they were delighted by a lively performance of James and the Giant Peach. The students represented our school beautifully and thoroughly enjoyed seeing literature come to life on stage. Experiences like these help deepen their appreciation for storytelling, creativity, and the arts. What a memorable day for our oldest learners! 🍑✨

A beautiful ending to Montessori Education Week 💚
Today we welcomed grandparents and special guests into our classrooms to experience the joy, independence, and pride our students show in their work each day.
Thank you to all who joined us! Your presence made the day extra special. ✨🤗
Over a century later… and the magic still looks the same. ✨
Montessori materials were designed to meet children exactly where they are: supporting independence, focus, and joyful learning across generations.
Timeless for a reason ☺️
There’s something special about watching your child fully immersed in their work 🥹
Yesterday, we hosted an evening designed for parents to step into the classroom, slow down, and observe the deep concentration, independence, and joy that unfold each day.
Montessori is best understood when seen in action 💚
