QUINN MCAVOY, HEAD OF SCHOOL

Quinn is a long-standing professional who transitioned to BMS in 2019, bringing over two decades of experience in Montessori education from the Chicago area. Her previous role was as the Head of All Day Montessori School in Chicago, IL. Quinn believes Montessori education empowers children to reach their full potential through thoughtfully curated lessons and experiences. She asserts that the Montessori philosophy offers a robust approach to preparing children for success in society, a philosophy she encapsulates with a favored quote from Dr. Montessori: "Joy, feeling one's own value, being appreciated and loved by others, feeling useful and capable of production are all factors of enormous value for the human soul.”

Quinn is a certified Montessori teacher with a Bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education from Saint Xavier University and a certification in Special Education. She also has a Master's degree in Nonprofit Business Management from Adler University and a Doctorate in Educational Leadership from National University.

Quinn enjoys spending time with her family, cooking, baking, and creating art through mixed media. Her oldest daughter graduated from BMS in 2022, and her youngest daughter is currently enrolled in BMS's upper elementary program.

JESS DAVIS, ASSISTANT HEAD OF SCHOOL

Jess Davis was a Montessori student, parent, long-time lower elementary teacher, and now serves as Assistant Head of School. Jess is also deeply involved in the Montessori advocacy movement, serving on the Board of Directors for organizations at both the state and national levels.

Dr. Montessori said, “The greatest gifts we can give our children are the roots of responsibility and the wings of independence.” This faith in the inherent potential and value of each child is what fuels Jess’s dedication to Montessori education, including for her own children. Both of her now-grown sons are graduates of Bloomington Montessori.

In her free time, Jess enjoys travel, backpacking, kayaking, cooking, reading, drawing, gardening, and playing stand-up bass. She often describes her favorite hobby as “learning new hobbies”.
