Janelle Terkhorn, President


Janelle grew up in Indianapolis, moving to Bloomington in 2006. She graduated from Indiana University in 2010 with a degree in English. Her coursework was mainly focused on research and education. She and her husband currently homestead on their small hobby farm on the outskirts of Bloomington. They have one son at BMS and are pleased to be part of the Montessori family.

Allison O'Boyle, Vice President


Allison has a Master’s Degree in Counseling Psychology and, prior to starting a family, worked for the Virginia Department of Corrections as a program analyst and part-time counselor. She brings to BMS prior Board experience at the Montessori School of Iowa City, where she was a Board member for two years and served as Board President for one year. At BMS she has been engaged in a number of fundraising activities prior to joining the Board. She and her husband moved to Bloomington with their children and dog in May 2017, and both children are enrolled at BMS.

Joanna Ausborn, Treasurer


Joanna is on the faculty at the O’Neill School of Public and Environmental Affairs at Indiana University. She is an economist and has experience working and teaching in the nonprofit sector, especially in the areas of finance, fundraising and development, and programming. She was once a musical theater actor and still has a love of music that she exercises through her three kids, Wallace, Earnest, and Otis. She is excited to be a BMS board member and to volunteer on behalf of its community of families.

Christine Lovelace, Secretary


Christine has a deep love for Montessori Education and the environment it provides children in which to remain curious, and to learn and develop in their own natural ways. Her educational background is in French, Education, and Art Therapy. She has been an Executive Assistant to companies throughout the country, and brings a high level of organizational skills to the Board as well as coaching and leadership skills. Christine has one child enrolled at BMS and is grateful to get to serve this wonderful school community.

Tracey Warren, Member At-Large


By way of a mathematics and mathematics education background, Tracey received her Ph.D. from Indiana University. Her mathematics teaching experience includes midwestern, eastern and southeastern universities, in addition to her research development roles. As a Bloomington Montessori mom she is also a Society of Central Maryland alumna starting with her first Montessori Children’s House at Har Sinai Congregation in Baltimore to Greenspring Montessori concluding with Odong Ridge Montessori. Prior to her Bloomington Montessori Board of Directors role, she worked with the Parent Action Committee (PAC) among other school related activities. Tracey and her husband are honored to be a Montessori legacy family and have a vested interest in the community proper. To that end, she trusts her professional and personal skills coupled with firsthand experiences, will translate, and find significance on the BMS board.

Ge Yan, Member At-Large


Ge is the Executive Director of Digital Technologies and an adjunct lecturer at IU’s Kelley School of Business. He has over 20 years of experience managing technology and business programs. Besides his career in higher education, he also held executive positions in the venture capital sector and start-up incubators. Ge has a Master’s Degree in Computer Science, an MBA, and is actively pursuing a doctoral degree at IU’s School of Education. Ge and his wife Jingjing have one child who graduated from BMS and one currently enrolled. His family benefited tremendously from BMS and is looking forward to serving the amazing community.

Hillary Kanyi, Member At-Large


Hilary Kanyi is an HR professional working for JA Benefits, LLC. She graduated from IU with a B.S. in Marketing and International Business, and a minor in Sociology. She currently serves as President-Elect of the local SHRM chapter (South Central Indiana Human Resources Association), and enjoys volunteering within the community. She has appreciated the growth and care her son and their family have received from the Montessori community, and is looking forward to giving back.

Anne Sterling, Member At-Large


Anne Sterling is the Vice President of State Affairs for the Humane Society of the United States, where she oversees the organization’s public policy efforts in 35 states in addition to investigations and research. She has extensive experience running legislative animal advocacy campaigns, managing a large, remote staff and working in the not-for-profit sector, having also worked for Kiwanis International and Habitat for Humanity in community building and fundraising. Anne’s son, Wilder, is a second grader at BMS in the Maple classroom. She is excited to join the BMS board and volunteer on behalf of its community of families and staff.

Chad Lochmiller, Member At-Large


Chad Lochmiller is the proud parent of a BMS student. He is also a faculty member at the Indiana University School of Education, where he also serves as Chair of the Department of Educational Leadership & Policy Studies. His professional work focuses on policy development, board governance, and continuous improvement. He is excited to support the mission and strategic plan of BMS and to enhance engagement with families as a member of the board.
